Due to the strict cultivation and processing criteria associated with it, consumers look with favor on the "certified organic" seal, consumers look favorably on organic products and have contributed to therr strong growth in the marketplace. This is evidenced by the 7.1% average growth rate of the sale of organic products in Europe to as high as 13.5% growth in the United States.
Organic products in the food and beverage market are demonstrating more robust growth than traditional products. The German beverage market for instance, is only represented 2% by Organic juices, however the +13.8% increase in volume is an indication of its major potential, while traditional juices are stagnating at -9.2% in the same time frame. (Source: GfK Consumer Scan Volumes Jan-Dec 2007 vs. Jan-Dec 2006) Germany is currently Europe's largest market for organically grown and processed products. The food and beverage market here is already forecast at 5.2 billion euros for 2009, with Great Britain and France following close behind. In Germany, non-alcoholic beverages rank 9th, with dairy products 11th after hot drinks, bread, sausage, grain products, and fresh vegetables and fruit with non-alcoholic and dairy products showing marked growth potential.
