WILD at Brau Beviale 2012 - Trend concepts for growth categories (30.08.2012)
At this year's Brau Beviale trade fair, WILD is presenting innovative concepts that
breweries and manufacturers of non-alcoholic beverages can use to stimulate additional growth and
reach new target groups. In keeping with its motto, “We grow your business, naturally,” the focus
is on product ideas that emphasize naturalness and outstanding taste. The trade fair in Nuremberg
highlights beer mix drinks and malt-based soft drinks.
In the past, filtered beer mix drinks have been a clear consumer favorite. The current trend
is now more and more toward unfiltered varieties that contain juice and feature a natural
image. Products based on wheat beer and non-alcoholic options are also growing in popularity.
Malt-based drinks and Fassbrausen offer variety
Soft drinks that contain malt also give breweries and manufacturers of
non-alcoholic beverages a way to expand their reach among consumers and appeal to new target
groups. These slightly tart "brewed" citrus sodas are not too sweet; they are non-alcoholic and
provide a good alternative to classic soft drinks and standard beer mix drinks. Altering the malt
content in the beverage yields a wide range of different product options. A traditional German
drink known as a "Fassbrause" is yet another way to expand the target group and win over both
younger trend-oriented consumers as well as more women. These non-alcoholic products are based on
natural ingredients, and they are currently undergoing a large-scale
renaissance. International favorites, especially in the Middle East, include varieties with a
clearly defined malt note.
Breweries and manufacturers of non-alcoholic soft drinks can use the full spectrum of WILD
products to develop drinks which are perfectly custom-tailored to consumer preferences – beer mix
drinks, malt beverages, Fassbrause and more.
Concepts for soft drinks
At the WILD booth, visitors can also learn more about new concepts for non-alcoholic soft
drinks. Among other things, the company will present its new citrus-soda concepts featuring the
innovative flavor of pomelo, as well as “energizing” soft drinks based on guarana or maté. WILD's
concepts for soft drinks with a blend of fruit and mint also reflect the company's competence in
the field of natural mint flavors.
Stevia: Sweetener without calories
Stevia, the no-calorie sweetener from natural source, can be used in all of these beverage
categories. Consumer interest in stevia-sweetened products is growing stronger and stronger.
Depending on the client preference and market demands, WILD can also create low- or no-calories
drinks. To ensure that these beverages also have a winning flavor, WILD uses its Taste Optimization
Technology, which significantly improves the flavor profile of the sweetness. It also enhances the
mouthfeel in the finished stevia-sweetened product, masking any undesired bitter off-notes.
Stevia can be blended well with Fruit Up®, WILD's natural fruit extract. This fruit sweetener
has versatile uses and allows manufacturers to develop formulations that offer consumers the added
value they want: naturalness and clean labels.
